Blogging and Creative Writing

Project: A spontaneous story through Instagram stories, 2023

Objective: To engage audiences with contemporary art through a unique character-driven narrative, critiquing and showcasing works at Chemould Gallery, Mumbai.

Idea: In a world where sharing pictures of where we've been or what we've seen has become the norm, I decided to create a more engaging story around this concept. It highlighted how the art world operates, what happens within it, and how it's perceived. Through the story, I described the main ideas behind the artworks in the exhibition while offering a critique.

The Protagonist: The character "Froggy" is an outsider who sneaks into a prestigious gallery in Mumbai. The narrative unfolds over several Instagram stories, responding to a contemporary art exhibition. Froggy's quirky interactions with the artworks reveal information and critiques in a playful, engaging manner.

Execution:

  • Instagram Stories as a Medium: The project used Instagram's short-form, disappearing story format to create an ongoing narrative, consumed in bite-sized pieces.

  • Visuals, Text, and Music: Each story combined images from the exhibition, original illustrations of Froggy, and background music. Accompanying text reflected Froggy's reactions and provided details about the artworks.

  • Audience Engagement: The stories encouraged viewers to see themselves as Froggy curious yet unfamiliar with the high-art world - making contemporary art more accessible and relatable.

Marketing Element: The project also served as a form of marketing for both the exhibition and the character of Froggy. By engaging audiences through an imaginative and relatable character, it helped build interest and awareness for the exhibition while establishing Froggy as a distinctive personality within the narrative.

This project aimed to reignite interest in art by offering a fresh, imaginative way to experience an exhibition, suggesting new possibilities for curation while making the gallery experience more approachable and fun.

Project: Blogging with thought-provoking articles

Objective: The blog was created to engage my audience with discussions on art’s role in society, to help them understand its potential, and to foster interest in art. It also served as a space for me to develop my writing, articulating thoughts creatively and effectively while forming relevant contemporary arguments. Additionally, I aimed to optimize my site through SEO, increasing its visibility.

Project Overview:  The blog covers a wide range of topics including art history, aesthetics, political perspectives, and personal experiences. My articles delve into the complexities of the high-art world, critically examining its relevance today. With time, I have been learning to write persuasive, impactful, boundary-pushing articles to communicate complex ideas interestingly.

In parallel, I optimized the blog using SEO strategies, researching and integrating keywords to improve search rankings. Through these techniques, I successfully listed my free site on Google’s second position for few exact searches, boosting visibility and building credibility.

Project: Advancing poetry structures, since 2022

Objective: To introduce structural innovation and fresh perspectives to Kannada poetry, moving beyond traditional forms and cliched approaches, in order to engage contemporary readers.

Project Overview: Since the Navya movement, Kannada literature focused more on subject matter and less on structural experimentation. With the fast-paced evolution happening in the world, this project aims to reinvigorate Kannada poetry by advancing its form, ensuring it resonates with modern sensibilities.

Creative Approach:
To reintroduce novelty to Kannada poetry, the project embraced the following innovations:

  • Absurd Sounds in Literature: Introducing unconventional sounds to disrupt the flow of traditional verse and evoke new reactions.

  • Direct Conversational Structure: Developing a structure that reads like a direct dialogue with the audience, making the experience more intimate and engaging.

  • Digital Formats for Poetry: Creating poetry that takes advantage of digital media, allowing new formats to emerge, blending text and multimedia.

  • Concrete Poetry: Introducing visual poetry to Kannada, where the arrangement of words on the page contributes to the meaning and impact of the poem.

  • Visual art influence: Experimenting with incorporating visual art movements to writing techniques, which allow readers to experience poetry in unexpected ways.

Execution: The project explored these innovations through a variety of poems and writing formats, shifting away from recitation-based poetry to visual and digital formats. Poems were crafted to encourage readers to think beyond conventional patterns and structures, introducing a fresh creative edge to Kannada literature.

No-code web design

Project : Personal Portfolio Websites

Objective: To create two distinct portfolio websites - one for contemporary artworks and another for design projects. The goal was to present the works in an engaging, interactive format while optimizing keywords for higher visibility in Google search results.

Challenge: The primary challenge was learning to build websites from scratch, understanding how to show my works in different lights to cater different types of viewers, and executing the project within a limited time frame.

Execution: I built both websites using Wix, which allowed me to explore the platform’s capabilities and content management systems (CMS). I wrote insightful blog articles, optimized keywords based on performance analytics, and ensured the sites were responsive and interactive. This approach is letting me optimize for enhanced viewer engagement and improved sites' visibility on search engines.

Tools used: Wix, Wix Blog, CMS, Wix apps
