Writing, re-writing, and refining the artist's statements have become necessary for an early career contemporary artist. With the number of applications to fill which lets to somehow survive in the field, writing statements takes more effort than required compared to making actual art as an artist. I sometimes wonder what am I even doing! Making art or writing statements!
