First Word Work 2021

Printed book (154 pages), 1/8 demy size, 2022

The book is like a live war. A page you are seeing is continuously in a war with its surrounding. War is happening between the pages, between the ideas, between the words! It also kind of illustrates the presence of clash between the three...the artist, the work, and the viewer. The book has this inbuilt tension, which continuously grows to redefine itself with each turn of a page. Each page can be looked as an individual work, but it is also made in a way that it connects to other pages allowing these individual contents to be carried further. As one goes through these, a kind of narrative builds up touching on art history, education, market, contemporary politics, irony of it, philosophical take, absurdity in defining, limits of language, psychological traits, social expectations and many more. Using irony, humour, logic, the book puts forth several strong points on our life and the way we choose to live.

#Hashtag (with probable poetries)
Printed poetry book (124 pages), 1/8 demy size, 2022

A poem is a poem because of its structure. In older days, we had Chandassu, Ragale, Kandapadya etc which were actually, the products of exploring new structures to write poems. The modern Navya movement also questioned the habitual structure. As nothing of that sort happened afterwards, the poetry writing itself got almost saturated for few decades now. I believe, art or any medium of expression has to avoid any kind of saturation and its our responsibility to explore alternative possibilities. This book is one such attempt. There are many things in the book that would stir a good discussion, but its better left to people to figure it out I think.

Interstellar (cinema-image-book)

Printed book, 170 pages, A5 size, 2022

Can we make a cinema solely visual? How? Can it still reveal the same plot, produce the same experience, provoke the same thoughts or hold on to any intension behind making that cinema?  Let’s consider the cinema, image and book as different galaxies in the universe of space and time. As we travel from one to another, time varies because of the structural differences of each galaxy. Time slows down to infinity in the image world where as the time becomes fixed (usually 24fps) in cinema world, the book world however lets customizing the time.  This book has happened because of the bundle of questions surrounding the structure of cinema, image and a book. It is intended just to explore the relation between them with an Interstellar example. The movie is actually a raw material for the project. It might feel like a copyright infringement in a sense, but the idea had to be addressed.

Arrangement as an Art Practice

Dissertation draft book, 2022

The act of arrangement is involved in art practice from the beginning itself, even when there was no distinction between art and life. If we think about it, we arrange many things in our daily life too. Be it a washed clothes in a cupboard or a books on shelf or even the items in the kitchen, the small vessels always goes inside the big one. The way we keep things is an unconscious act of arrangement. What happens when we become conscious of it and continue doing it consciously?
